VISION STATEMENT

My intention as mayor is to make major changes in city operations. Key areas of focus are prosperity for all people, a healthy environment, and effective organizational management.

My first objective is to turn the new city council into a unified bonded team who work together for the betterment of Toronto. I expect differences of opinion, but we must all work together towards a common vision.

The prime focus of council will be to initiate and implement programs that help our city live in harmony with the planet. We will address the health of Toronto, focusing on clean air and water, stable foundation, highly innovative public transit, increased bicycle paths and pedestrian walkways, and environmentally conscious operations.

In addition, extreme efforts will be undertaken to help those of lesser means become more prosperous. Though aid will continue to be given to those in greatest need, concentration will be on stimulating upward mobility of all. Efforts will include education, business development, job development, and housing assistance.

Over the next four years, we will move to a system of Structured Empowerment. Authority will shift from a central point out to the front lines. Neighborhoods will have decision making responsibilities, as will staff. Of course there will be guidelines and structure, but everyone who wants to be involved can be involved.

We will also add entrepreneurial spirit to city hall. Using Innovative Government Financing, we will initiate projects that provide revenues and enhance the city.  We will create businesses and jobs. We will create new services and new facilities. We will be able to fulfill our obligations, increase service to those in need, and finance the growth of our city.

I know that these are very lofty goals, but if I am elected mayor, these are my intentions.
